Sharp, filthy-honest storytelling with real bite
If you haven't seen Deirdre O'Kane live, you're missing one of Ireland's sharpest, funniest voices on stage. She's got that brilliant gift of turning ordinary domestic chaos — burglaries, weddings, her kids' weird requests — into properly filthy, laugh-out-loud material, but she'll just as easily pivot into something darker or more political without losing a single laugh along the way.
What makes her so good is the honesty. She talks about motherhood, marriage, family and getting older without any of the sanitised, greeting-card nonsense — it's messy and real and often near the knuckle, delivered with brilliant comic timing and a real warmth underneath the bite. She's been doing this a long time and it shows in how effortlessly she commands a room.
