Abhishek Upmanyu

Manic, self-deprecating, escalating observational chaos

Abhishek Upmanyu has this brilliant way of taking the most mundane Indian middle-class observations — health anxiety, a sabziwala, khichdi, two watches on his wrist — and spinning them into these tightly-wound, escalating bits that just keep getting funnier the longer he holds the thread. He's got a slightly manic, self-deprecating energy on stage that makes even his most absurd tangents feel like they're happening to a guy you know.

What makes him special is the writing — he's relentless about callbacks and structure, but it never feels engineered, it feels like he's just riffing with you at a dinner table until it explodes into something ridiculous. He calls a lot of his own material 'trash' and 'ghatia' with a wink, but that self-aware chaos is exactly the charm.

If you like comedy that starts small and domestic and ends up somewhere completely unhinged, Abhishek's your guy.
